She is the proud mother of a bright and energetic daughter named Genesis who is her pride and joy. Watching her daughter’s learning path has given her a first-hand personal investment in the value of quality public school education, and environmental issues. Dr. Simmons holds a Master’s in Public Administration and gained her PhD in Public Policy from Southern University A&M College in 2022. Dr. Simmons is currently the Manager of Public Affairs (MPA) for a major utility enterprise, responsible for the Northerneastern River Parishes of Louisiana. In this role she works in governmental affairs to impact bills and policies in education and energy. She also manages a large budget for charitable giving and contribution request from nonprofits and is responsible for ensuring they are aligned with the CSR and outreach vision of the corporate funder.

Genesis Research and Consulting, LLC is her independent business in which she is exercising her skills, talents, and experience to help develop programs and initiatives, offer consultation for nonprofits, and support their efforts to seek funding. Dr. Simmons is a change agent and is doing the work to invest in providing resources and opportunities for the public and a safe, equitable learning environment for our children. She has a vested interest in working with nonprofits and is seeking to support them in carrying out their mission and vision to address community issues.
